"Happier, healthier children. Long before they ever need it."

For many kids, the path in starts with sport. With a team, a coach, a competition. When children are already moving and invested, that is the moment to introduce the tools that make them stronger in every way: nutrition, breathwork, mental resilience, flexibility. Movement opens the door. We walk through it together.

Healing does not have to start with a crisis. Many families simply do not have access to, or awareness of, tools like play, movement, breath, and mindfulness that support thriving children. The Heallist Foundation exists to close that gap by funding practitioners who bring these practices into the communities that need them most. Because the earlier children are introduced to these tools, the more deeply they take root.

Our Mission

A new idea of
what healing looks like

Most people think of healing as something that happens after something goes wrong. We believe it can start much earlier, with a child learning to breathe through big feelings, move their body with joy, or simply play. The Heallist Foundation funds the practitioners who make that possible in communities where these options rarely exist.

01

Broaden Awareness

Help families and educators discover that movement, play, meditation, and breathwork are real and accessible paths to raising healthier, more resilient children.

02

Fund Practitioners

Grants for holistic healers ready to bring these practices directly into underserved communities, in schools, rec centers, clinics, and homes.

03

Reach Kids Early

Give children wellness tools from the very start, through athletics, play, and mindfulness programs designed to meet them where they already are.

04

Train Educators & Clinicians

We train teachers and health professionals to bring whole-child wellness tools directly into classrooms and clinics, so the people closest to kids are equipped to support them.

05

Strengthen Families & Institutions

When kids thrive, families thrive, and so do the schools and health systems that serve them. We build the partnerships that make these practices last.

From the Founder

Why the Foundation
was built

Growing up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the 80s felt like a coin toss. You either got pulled under or you found a way through.

We were fortunate. We had a mother who never stopped showing up and a grandmother who filled every gap. She found programs that opened doors and made sure our world extended beyond our block. African dance in Alphabet City. Shakespeare in the Park. Summers at Hudson Guild Farm. Affordable by necessity, unforgettable by design.

But no one talked about the tools to process what we were feeling. You pushed through because that was survival. Not everyone made it. I lost friends who needed tools we did not even know existed.

I found those tools later in life. They did not fix me. I was never broken. But they changed how I moved through hard moments.

The Heallist Foundation was built for communities like the one I grew up in. The families working double shifts who still show up for the school play. The middle and working-class families doing everything right and still not getting access to the type of care their children need to thrive. That is the gap we are here to fill.

Christine Carey is also the founder of With Storybox, which permanently directs 30% of its net profit to the Heallist Foundation.
